One Home to Another

A couple days before heading back to Utah, Jon's mom and sister came over to visit. We had a great time seeing some new sights.

While Jon was working, Carla, Jenny, Koen and I headed to the Butterfly House. There were some amazing butterflies there and we really had a good time.

You may not know it through the picture, but it was EXTREMELY hot and HUMID inside the actual butterfly house to keep it true to the tropical butterflies natural habitat. We were all very uncomfortable there. Thank goodness there were A LOT of awesome butterflies to make it worth it!
Koen loved taking Grandma around to show her neat things.

Could you imagine we live in St. Louis and NOT go to the famous St. Louis Arch? Well, we felt it simply didn't seem right to pass it up.
Waiting for our turn to ride to the top.
At the top of the arch.
I was surprised by how small the windows were.
A few shots of what the view looks like from the top of the arch.

Looking across the Mississippi River at Illinois.

What a blessing it was to have Jenny travel back to Utah with us. Jenny was such a help with Koen during our long days of driving. Koen loved having her around.

Though he's only a year and a half, Koen is often up for a friendly pillow fight too.

Carla and Jenny were so sweet to watch Koen for us one night so that Jon and I could go on a date. We watched a movie in 3D and Jon gave Koen his 3D glasses afterwards. He thought they were pretty cool.

My awe of the beautiful Utah mountains never seems to fail when I see them again after being away for a time. I was so happy to see them again when we came in. I love the Wasatch mountain range so much. They will be tremendously missed when we say our farewells after Jon graduates. Though I very quickly missed the abundance of greenery when I saw the hills by the University and north Salt Lake were brown. I imagine that in Heaven, Jon and I will discover a place with beautiful, majestic snow capped mountains and land blanketed in rich, green life.

I love the big butterfly sculpture. And it's always fun to get to go into their habitat.
